Speaking to The Athletic, Jordan Henderson has been discussing Sadio Mane’s departure from Liverpool and the arrival of Darwin Nunez.

After six years of remarkable service, Mane has left Liverpool to join Bayern Munich.

The Senegalese winger will undoubtedly go down as a modern-day Anfield legend, and like many, Henderson was sad to see the attacker leave.

However, the Liverpool captain says he’s excited to work alongside Darwin Nunez, stating that the Uruguayan will bring a new dimension to the attack.

What’s been said?

Henderson spoke about Nunez’s arrival and Mane’s departure.

“He’s a new option and a new dimension for us with the way we play and we’ve got to adapt to that quickly. This group has shown in the past that it is easy to settle in quickly, he can already speak with some of the lads and hopefully he can pick up English quickly,” Henderson said.

“It was always going to be difficult losing Sadio because he’s world-class — one of the best forwards in the world. We were sad to see him leave but we wish him all the best.

“For us, you look at the forward line and it’s still very strong. We have brought new players in but we also have world-class players who performed last season.

End of an era

Henderson is sad about Mane’s departure, and we can absolutely understand why.

The winger’s departure marks the end of an absolutely fantastic era at Liverpool.

Mane was, of course, one-third of one of the most famous front threes in Premier League history alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, and now, that incredible trifecta has been dismantled.

Nunez has arrived, and while he may be a star, it will take him some time to become as beloved as Mane on Merseyside.
