Speaking to Optus Sports, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Liverpool’s attacking options and Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian has slipped down the pecking order at Anfield. Diogo Jota is now the Reds’ first-choice central striker, while Sadio Mane has also shown that he can play there in recent weeks.

Liverpool have a real selection dilemma up front, but according to Carragher, Klopp’s front three should be Mo Salah, Jota and Mane.

The pundit also claimed that he doesn’t think Firmino will ever be able to establish himself back into the starting XI due to Jota’s brilliance.

What’s been said?

Carragher gave his view on the Reds’ front three.

“It’s very easy right now for me, I think it’s a front three right now still, but I think Jota and Firmino have traded positions. It would be Mo Salah, Jota through the middle and then Mane on the left, I think Diaz still has to show us what he’s about, that’s a conversation more for next season, but I think it will be difficult for Firmino to ever establish himself back in that front three just because of the goals Jota is getting now,” Carragher said.

Upgraded

As sad as it is to say, Liverpool have moved on from Firmino.

The Brazilian will always be a Liverpool legend because of all he has achieved at Anfield, but he’s no longer a key player for the Reds.

Jota has taken his place in the attack, and he’s barely been missed after missing the past couple of weeks with injuries.

Does Firmino still have something to offer this Liverpool team? Of course he does, but when everyone is fit and available, he’s no longer a guaranteed starter.
