Chris Sutton has predicted on BBC Sport that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United will win against Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United on New Year’s Eve.

Newcastle will take on Leeds at home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The match will be held at St. James’ Park and is scheduled to kick off at 3pm UK time on December 31.

Former Chelsea striker Sutton believes that Newcastle will pick up all three points from the encounter courtesy of a 2-0 win.

Chris Sutton predicts Newcastle United vs Leeds United

Sutton wrote: “Leeds found it tough going against Manchester City on Wednesday and this is another difficult game for them because Newcastle are playing with so much confidence at the moment.

“We know Leeds will give it everything but Newcastle are solid at the back and they have got plenty of goals in them too.”

A footnote added: “Sutton’s prediction: 2-0.”

Who will win?

In our opinion, Newcastle United will head into the match against Leeds United at St. James’ Park as favourites.

The Magpies are doing much better than the West Yorkshire club at the moment and are in better form.

Moreover, Newcastle are at home.

It is really hard to see Newcastle drop all three points at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle are defensively very mean.

Eddie Howe’s side have conceded only 11 goals in 16 Premier League matches so far this season.

We simply do not see Leeds even picking up a point against Newcastle.
