Rio Ferdinand has said on his YouTube channel that Arsenal attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard could change this season.

The former Manchester United star has pointed out that being the Arsenal captain this season could weigh heavy on playmaker Odegaard.

The 23-year-old Norway international attacking midfielder has been made the Arsenal captain for this season.

Odegaard also wears the captain’s armband for Norway.

Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel: “I said that in the group (that the armband weighs heavy). It could be a different Odegaard this year.”

No need to worry

In our view, Arsenal fans need not worry about attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard changing this season because of becoming the club captain.

Yes, Odegaard is only 23, but he is already the Norway national team captain.

And he was at Real Madrid not so long ago.

At Real Madrid.

The biggest club in the world.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will know better than most his players’ character and personalty.

The Spaniard must have seen something in Odegaard that convinced him that even at 23, he is a leader.

Odegaard has scored eight goals and created seven big chances in 51 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

For Arsenal to be successful in the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League this season, in our opinion, Odegaard will have to be on top of his game.
