It’s fair to say that Willian hasn’t blown away a lot of Arsenal fans this season.
Prior to this week, the Brazilian winger had only set up three goals and scored none across all competitions since joining the Gunners last summer.
But slowly and surely, the 32-year-old is changing the perception of himself among Arsenal fans and his latest performance has only accelerated that process.
Willian was recalled to Mikel Arteta’s first XI for the Premier League trip to Leicester City today and the former Chelsea attacker justified his manager’s decision by setting up two goals in a 3-1 win.
A mix-up between the South American and Granit Xhaka ultimately led to the Foxes bagging an early lead, but Willian – who also set one up in the Europa League win over Benfica in midweek – was quite simply superb for the rest of the game.
In addition to that, he now has five assists in the Premier League this season – more than any other Arsenal player – and here’s how fans of the Emirates Stadium club reacted to his performance.
