Mo Elneny continued to rebuild his Arsenal career with a superb performance away at Leicester City on Wednesday night.

Mikel Arteta’s side maintained their brilliant start to the new season with a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium to move into the next round of the Carabao Cup.

So much of the pre and post-match talk centered around Mesut Ozil’s potentially-finished Arsenal career, on a night when Arteta left him out of the squad yet again.

The German playmaker hasn’t kicked a ball for the North Londoners since way back in March, having missed all of Project Restart.

He certainly looks a goner at the Emirates Stadium but one man who looks to be enjoying a second wind is Elneny.

The former Basel star appeared to have one foot out the door at Arsenal after returning from a loan with Besiktas last season, having failed to make the grade under Unai Emery.

But Elneny, a £7 million addition in 2016, has gone from strength to strength under Arteta, producing some solid midfield displays – including one against Liverpool in the Community Shield.

And some Arsenal fans have noticed that he’s a changed man under the Spaniard:

With 12 days left in the transfer window, anything can happen for Elneny – particularly as Arsenal are linked to not one, but two midfielders – but based on his three games this season, the Egypt international has done his chances of staying with Arteta all season no harm at all.
