Cameron Archer has been a breakthrough star for Aston Villa this season, and the teenage striker yet again had a game to remember against Burton.
The attacker bagged a hat-trick in Villa’s U-23 win against the League One side as the young Midlands side claimed an impressive 4-2 win. The result booked Mark Delaney’s prospects into the next round of the EFL Trophy.
To say Villa have a golden generation coming through would be something of an understatement. As well as Archer, the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka and Jaden Philogene-Bidace look like stars in the making.
With Jacob Ramsey already making the leap to the first-team, Dean Smith and the club seem willing to play academy graduates if they are ready for senior football.
And Archer is proving that, and then some. The attacker bagged a hat-trick against AFC Barrow in the League Cup. The youngster then scored against UEFA Champions League holders Chelsea in the next round.
Indeed, the attacker is slowly making a case for himself to be involved in the senior side. Whilst Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings have impressed, they’re nowhere close to the numbers Archer has hit for Villa this season.
