Rio Ferdinand has told Vibe with Five that he can’t see Newcastle United appointing Thomas Tuchel as their manager after he was sacked by Chelsea on Wednesday.
The Manchester United legend claimed that Chelsea are a ‘different level’ to Newcastle and they are also in the middle of their own process with Eddie Howe.
Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday night, which just continued the team’s poor start to the new season.

Todd Boehly is the man now sitting at top of Chelsea’s tree after Roman Abramovich’s departure and it seems as though nothing has changed when it comes to ruthless calls being made by the club.
Who will Chelsea appoint next as their manager? Graham Potter? Former Tottenham coach, Mauricio Pochettino? Or perhaps an outside-of-the-box pick?
The same with Tuchel, what now for the German, who won the Champions League in his first season in Chelsea colours?
Either way, when it was suggested to Ferdinand that Tuchel could stand in Newcastle’s dugout for his next job, he explained why that won’t happen.
“I think there are two reasons why I don’t think that will happen,” said Ferdinand. “Their project and their process is in play. They are very meticulous and methodical with that.
“I don’t think they are going to be a group that are going to be panic buying or panic judging situations. And Eddie Howe, you can see at the moment, the club is going like this (on the up) under his guidance and the staff they have around him. For that reason, I don’t think right now would be the time.
“Also, I don’t feel Newcastle is in a position right now for a Thomas Tuchel. Chelsea are a different level to Newcastle right now, with respect. PSG are a different level to Newcastle.
“I am not saying it’s a project he wouldn’t be interested in, but I think Newcastle will say ‘we are happy where we are right now. This isn’t the right timing for us’.”

CHELSEA THE BIG SPENDERS
It was a record-breaking summer transfer spend from Chelsea, who splashed over £200 million on players, only to seemingly look far worse.
It’s pretty clear that going forward Chelsea are going to be as ruthless as they have been before when given chances to managers.
With the money now flowing in at St James’ Park, it will be interesting to see how their owners react in the long run and whether they pull the trigger just as quick.
At this moment in time, there seems to be a lot of patience, but in truth, that will only be tested once Howe faces his first real test as Newcastle boss and they start to perhaps struggle or seem to go backwards.
