Rio Ferdinand lavished praise on to Martin Odegaard, who starred for Arsenal in their statement 2-0 win against Newcastle United.
Branded as ‘incredible’ by Mikel Arteta after the game as well, the £30 million (Sky Sports) man ran the show to keep his side’s Premier League title hopes alive.
Rio Ferdinand, who applauded Arsenal for their commanding display in their victory against Newcastle United also singled out Martin Odegaard for praise.
Rio Ferdinand raves about Martin Odegaard after Arsenal beat Newcastle
The Norwegian midfielder opened the scoring by drilling the ball into the back of the net from outside the box in what was a rasping low strike.
Aside from his well-taken goal as well, Odegaard pulled the strings, especially in the first half, as some of his passing and overall technical ability was a joy to watch.
After Arsenal beat Newcastle on Sunday evening, Rio Ferdinand began his analysis by crediting Martin Odegaard for what was yet another sumptuous display.

“Odegaard, who’s been your [Joel Beya, the Arsenal fan] Player of the Season comes up trumps again. I think he did a couple of bits in the first half that was just like, ‘Oh, different level’, he said on the FIVE YouTube channel.
HITC View: Odegaard being poor in big games is a myth
There seems to be this narrative that the former Real Madrid technician goes missing in away games and in general, under the bright lights.
However, as Rio Ferdinand implied, Martin Odegaard has led from the front as Arsenal captain this season and proved against Newcastle once again why there aren’t many better attacking midfielders than him in Europe.
The silky No.10 has done it against a majority of the biggest sides time and again this campaign and even during his side’s recent run of underwhelming results, he stepped up for the most part.
Even at times if Odegaard may perhaps not be at his brilliant best in a big game, there are two things that must be understood.
One, no player in the world does the business in every possible game.
Secondly, the Gunners fan favourite is still relatively young and over time, he will improve each and every facet of his game.
