Kyle Walker established himself as one of the best right-backs in the world when he was at Tottenham Hotspur, and his performance for England against France in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup showed once again how much he has got better since leaving Spurs for Manchester City in 2017.
Walker was on the books of Tottenham from 2009 until 2017 when he moved to Manchester City for an initial £45 million (BBC Sport).
The 32-year-old developed a lot under then Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino, and he has taken his game to a whole new level under Pep Guardiola at defending Premier League champions City.
There is a reason why Walker is England’s first-choice right-back at the moment, and the former Spurs star showed his quality for England against France on Saturday evening.
Yes, France won the quarter-final tie 2-1, but the 32-year-old was able to keep Kylian Mbappe in check, especially in the second half.

Now, of course, Mbappe got the better of Walker on a few occasions, but overall, the England right-back stayed disciplined and did not allow the Paris Saint-Germain too much space.
And former Tottenham duo Jermaine Jenas and Jamie O’Hara were impressed, as you can see rom their posts on Instagram below.
