Speaking on the ITV Football Podcast, Gary Neville has claimed that Tottenham’s Harry Kane is coming off of his best-ever season.
Last term wasn’t Kane’s greatest season in terms of goals. He actually scored seven fewer than he did during the 2017/18 campaign when he banged in 30 league goals, but Neville believes that his all-round play last term was at its best.
To be fair, Kane did top the goals and assists charts last term, so it’s hard to argue against the notion that he had is greatest ever season.
What’s been said?
Neville was discussing Kane amid his poor run of form for England at Euro 2020.
“Harry Kane delivered last season his best ever season, forget the goals, his best ever performance I’ve seen was last season, his play dropping in, his hold-up play, his passing, everything about his performance last year was just a different level. You talk about Harry Kane’s contribution he’s about more than just goals, he’s a target man, someone who can link the play,” Neville said.

More to come?
Kane may have had his best season yet, but we have to feel that there is still more to come.
Kane is such an intelligent player, so he’ll always be finding ways to improve, and as long as his body doesn’t begin to let him down physically, he’ll keep getting better and better.
Yes, things haven’t been going his way at the Euros, but don’t let that take away from the fact he’s been arguably the best player in England over the past 12 months.
Of course, if the best is yet to come from Kane, we may not be seeing it at Spurs as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester City.
