Manchester City will be with a depleted squad and no Pep Guardiola for tomorrow’s FA Cup clash against Swindon Town.
The Cityzens confirmed on their official website that an astonishing 21 members of the first-team squad have tested positive for Covid-19, with Guardiola the latest victim of the wave hitting the City camp.
As well as the City boss, 13 other members of staff have tested positive as well as seven first-team players, which will see the Premier League take a weakened side to face Swindon.
The Manchester side become the latest side to be wrecked by Covid-19, with Liverpool this week having their League Cup semi-final against Arsenal postponed due to new cases at the club.
Indeed, the level of opposition would have seen City rotate the squad regardless of Covid, yet now it appears that the Premier League leaders will be without some key names when they face Swindon tomorrow.
This could give the likes of Cole Palmer and James McAtee another chance to impress in the first-team, whilst some other names in the senior squad who don’t usually see regular minutes will now feature.
As well as Guardiola on the coaching staff, assistant coach Juanma Lillo has also tested positive, meaning Rodolfo Borrell will take charge of City against Swindon. And supporters are excited.
City fans react as Borrell prepares to take charge of Swindon clash

The former Liverpool coach spent 13 years at FC Barcelona with the famed La Masia academy working alongside some of the game’s greatest ever players in Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez and Andrea Iniesta.
And with such a stellar reputation, City supporters are excited to see what Borrell can do from the touchline against Swindon.
Here’s what some fans had to say on Twitter about the 50-year-old coach taking charge of tomorrow’s match…
