Speaking on the Studs Up podcast, Jonjo Shelvey has lavished praise upon Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

Saint-Maximin has been one of Newcastle’s standout performers ever since he joined, and while his goals and assists aren’t up there with the best players in the league, his talent is there for all to see.

Understandably, Shelvey was asked about his teammate during his podcast appearance, and he had plenty of good things to say about him, claiming that he’s good enough for Real Madrid.

“Yeah he’s different gravy, you can just give him the ball and he just, sometimes he holds onto it for well too long, but he’s got the ability to go on to play for your Real Madrid’s without fail,” Shelvey said.

“He’s had his issues with his hamstrings and he’s been injured and things like that, but he’s loved up here, he’s absolutely adored up here because he can just turn a game on its head.”

Saint-Maximin is definitely a talented player, but it seems as though Shelvey thinks he’s amongst the world’s best.

Real Madrid don’t just sign anybody, and if Shelvey thinks he’s good enough to play for Los Blancos, he must be really impressing him.

Saint-Maximin is mesmerising to watch when he’s on the pitch, so we can only imagine what it’s like to train alongside him every day and see him when there isn’t as much pressure on him.
