Trevor Sinclair has suggested on Twitter that Manchester City should have signed Kieran Tierney before he joined Arsenal from Celtic in the summer of 2019.

The former City winger made the comment while watching the Scotland international left-back in action for Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final tie against City at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday evening.

The 23-year-old was superb defensively, and the former Celtic star also bagged an assist in the Gunners’ 2-0 win.

According to WhoScored, the youngster played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 88%, took 41 touches, and made one tackle and seven clearances.

Sinclair believes that City manager Pep Guardiola should have signed the left-back before he moved to Arsenal last summer, while former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has raved about him on Twitter.

Important player for Arsenal

Tierney did not make a great start to his Arsenal career following his move from Celtic last summer, as he had fitness and injury concerns.

However, since the return of football following lockdown, the left-back has been superb, and his performances at left wing-back have been brilliant.
