It’s been a pretty frustrating season for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Troy Parrott.
Spurs loaned him to Millwall for the 2020-21 campaign but recalled him midway through that stint in the Championship after struggling for regular football.
The 19-year-old Irish hitman was then sent to League One side Ipswich Town and although he hasn’t scored yet, manager Paul Lambert is mightily impressed by him nonetheless.
Parrott has managed five league games under Lambert and finds himself playing as a number 10 rather than an out-and-out striker, which explains the lack of goals to some extent.
And the Scottish boss has claimed that he’s been simply ‘different class’ and can’t wait to see how good the Tottenham sensation is in a few years.
He told TWTD: “I’ve got my own thoughts on Troy, the way he is as a player and as a young guy. He’s been different class since he’s been here.
“You can tell he’s at a club like Tottenham, his touch and his awareness, his navigation round and about the pitch and his awareness of what’s around about him is very, very good. And his work-rate, that should always be there anyway, your work-rate should always be there, but that kid’s has been great. I look forward to seeing where he is in the next few years because of the way he plays the game.”
With the emergence of Dane Scarlett this season, Parrott absolutely has competition at Tottenham.
This time last year, he was the next big thing coming out of the Lilywhites’ academy, but 16-year-old Scarlett, who made his Premier League debut earlier this month, seems to be the new kid on the block and that should inspire Parrott to ensure he makes the most of this loan spell.
