Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers signed Joey Barton from Burnley last summer.

Dietmar Hamann - Manchester City celebrates

Dietmar Hamann has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 10th October, that he does not believe Joey Barton will play for Glasgow Rangers again.

Barton’s move to Rangers this summer has not gone according to plan, and he is currently suspended from training from the Ibrox side.

Barton has been placed on temporary leave, as Rangers assess what action they should take with him, following his altercation with Andy Halliday on the training ground.

Barton has held meetings with Rangers manager Mark Warburton, but he has still not made it back into the Glasgow side’s first-team plans.

And Hamann cannot see the central midfielder playing for Rangers again, as the situation still has not been dealt with.

“Resolvement? No. If they wanted to resolve it they should have done it the day after he had an argument,” Hamann said.

“Why wait for three weeks if he’s an asset? They didn’t do that, so I think resolving it is out of the equation.

“I think they will probably come to the conclusion that they just don’t go together. Barton has only himself to blame. I can’t see him playing for Rangers again.”

Barton promised to be the best player in Scotland when he moved to Rangers, but he has struggled on and off the field so far.

Barton is believed to be hoping to reignite his Rangers career, but his chances of doing so now look slim. There have even been suggestions that he could leave Ibrox in the January transfer window.

Rangers’ next match comes against Inverness at the weekend, but Barton will not be available for selection in that fixture.
