Dietmar Hamann has told RTE Sport that Everton defender Seamus Coleman was fantastic in the Republic of Ireland’s qualifying match against Moldova.

Coleman has enjoyed an excellent international break, after scoring his country’s winner against Georgia and then backing that display up with a solid performance against Moldova.

Ireland took maximum points from their last two matches, and Hamann has praised the performance of Martin O’Neill’s side.

“Not only Wes Hoolahan who was excellent, Whelan did well, McClean, Seamus Coleman at right back was fantastic,” he said.

Ireland won 1-0 against Georgia, before beating Moldova 3-1.

The Boys in Green were given a scare by Moldova, but two second half goals from James McClean ensured that they got the three points.

Ireland now sit in second place in their World Cup qualification group, after taking seven points from their first three matches.

Coleman’s focus is set to return to Everton matters now, with Ronald Koeman’s side in action again at the weekend.

The Toffees are due to face league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their next match.
