Everton eased past Sunderland in the Premier League on Monday.

Dietmar Hamann - Manchester City celebrates

Former Liverpool and Newcastle United midfielder Dietmar Hamann has taken to social networking site Twitter to make a prediction about Everton.

The former Germany international believes that the Toffees could challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

Hamann made the prediction following Everton’s performance against Sunderland on Monday evening.

Ronald Koeman’s side continued their strong start to the season with a 3-0 win against the Black Cats away from home in the Premier League.

Romelu Lukaku was the star of the show for the Merseyside outfit, as he scored a second-half hat-trick at the Stadium of Light.

Former Liverpool and Newcastle midfielder Hamann was following the game, and he was impressed with Everton’s performance.

Everton are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from four matches, just two points behind leaders Manchester City.

It is quite early in the season, but the signs are looking very encouraging for the Toffees.

A top-four finish is unlikely, given the quality of teams that Everton will have to compete against, but clinching a Europa League place is certainly possible for Koeman’s team.
