Former Liverpool star Dieter Hamann spelt-out some home truths about Liverpool’s transfer deals so far.
Liverpool need to get things right in the summer transfer window, and while Mohamed Salah adds more strike power, Dietmar Hamann has hit out at Jurgen Klopp for strengthening in the wrong areas, as reported by Sky Sports.
Hamann’s main criticism of Klopp is over his lack of progress in signing a left-back. While this needs to be addressed, the whole of the backline at Anfield will be tested when they enter the Champions League next season.
“There are still areas of the team that need addressing,” said Hamann. “If you look at the left-back position, I do think they should be going into the season with Milner at left-back.
“I think we need at least three or four players,” added Hamann.

Klopp is also interested in off-loading Albert Moreno, who has failed to remove James Milner from the left-back position.
A fee of £15 million has been requested for Moreno, which is why Roma and Napoli are losing interest in the player, reports TalkSport. Is Klopp waiting until Moreno is sold before he can move for another left-back?
The mess over trying to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton was more of an embarrassment for Liverpool fans, even though the club was deemed not to have done anything wrong, as SkySports reported. The whole saga got the transfer window off on the wrong footing.
Klopp has not made any replacements at the back yet, so the Anfield faithful could still see Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren or Mamadou Sakho, who has returned from his loan at Crystal Palace, kicking-off their new season at centre-back.

However, what is likely to be rattling Liverpool fans and Dietmar Hamann most is seeing Everton making so much more progress in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool are in danger of dropping behind the pace and attention really must be directed at their back four when considering the team’s league performances last season.
Liverpool conceded 42 goals in the Premier League and only managed 12 clean sheets in their 38 matches.
