Eric Dier has told Korea JoongAng Daily that Tottenham star Son Heung-min can replicate winning the golden boot during the 2022-23 campaign – having done so last season, tying with Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

Spurs have travelled to Son’s native South Korea – arriving to an incredible atmosphere after touching down. The players were put through a grueling training session on Monday, in front of 6000 excited fans.

Antonio Conte is preparing his side to face an all-star K-League XI side on Wednesday, before taking on Erik Lamela’s Sevilla on Saturday. Son will be hoping to continue his 21-22 form, in which he had a hand in 34 goals in 45 games.

Scoring 24 and creating 10, 23 of those goals in 35 Premier League games. Speaking to one of South Korea’s biggest print outlets, Dier says Son is more than capable of replicating his 21-22 form and winning the golden boot.

“No reason he can’t [win it again] after what he did last season. If he did what he did last season he would be very close. There are a lot of fantastic players in the Premier League, but I’m sure if he wants it, he can.”

The way Conte has got his side playing suits Son. It sees Harry Kane dropping deep and smacking balls over the top to an on-rushing Son, it works perfectly. So, there is no reason Son cannot go and do it again.

The issue is, can Premier League defences cotton on to Tottenham’s attacking system? Either man mark Kane, or drop deeper to prevent space in behind? The issue is, is that Tottenham are so quick on the counter and it suits them.
