Tottenham Hotspur have arguably the Premier League’s best striker amongst their ranks.
Gent’s Kalifa Coulibaly in action with Tottenham’s Eric Dier
Spurs man Eric Dier spoke to the media in the wake of his side’s impressive win over Stoke City yesterday, and lavished praised upon teammate Harry Kane, suggesting that the striker would be topping the goalscoring charts on his own, had he not spent such a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury earlier on in the season, as quoted by the Evening Standard:
The 23-year-old England international is now level with Everton’s Romleu Lukaku and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez at the top of the pile on 17 goals, despite missing close to six weeks of Tottenham’s season after sustaining an ankle injury earlier on in the campaign.
And Dier labelled Kane’s achievement as ‘amazing’, considering he has spent so much time on the sidelines, as quoted by the Evening Standard:
“It’s amazing. There is no doubt he would now be out on his own at the top of the charts if he hadn’t missed six weeks with injury earlier in the season.”
Tottenham’s Harry Kane celebrates scoring
The Spurs striker is now in a position where he will genuinely believe that he can surpass Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier league goals.
He is still 194 behind the Newcastle United legend though, and will need to remain injury free for the next 10 years of his career if he is to have any chance of usurping the Geordie’s incredible goalscoring record.
