Uruguayan strike hero Diego Forlan has been discussing his time at Manchester United, during an interview with ESPN.
Forlan, now retired from international football, was speaking ahead of the upcoming Copa America, which he led Uruguay to a win in 2011.
He signed for Manchester United in the mid-2000s, but could not establish himself ahead of Ruud van Nistelrooy in the starting line-up, and struggled early on.
He did have a handful of good moments, and picks his best ever goal as a volley against Glasgow Rangers in the Champions League.
He said: “A volley against Glasgow Rangers in the Champions League. I was on a good run and loved that goal. I scored some other great goals at United.
“The last minute winning goal against Chelsea or my first goal, an equaliser against Aston Villa when I took my shirt off. Or when I scored a winner against Southampton and couldn’t get my shirt back on.”
Forlan went onto score against Rangers later in his career with Villarreal, where he moved after United and won the Spanish Golden Boot, known as the Pichichi.

Forlan of course had to mention the tap ins he scored against Liverpool, capitalising on mistakes from Jerzy Dudek.
His strikes created a chant which United fans still sing to this day to taunt their rivals, and Forlan says he would like to travel to Anfield and sit in the away end with the fans one day in the future.
He added: “United fans like to remind me of the two I got at Anfield. They still sing that song, which it fantastic. I’m going to go with them to Anfield one day and stand with them.”
