Reports today are suggesting Crystal Palace may look into the free agent market to solve what is becoming a mini goalkeeping crisis at Selhurst Park.
The Eagles have been dealt a massive blow with the news that club legend is set o miss eight weeks of action with a knee injury. It leaves Roy Hodgson with only Wayne Hennessey as a recognised goalkeeping option, with 20-year-old Dion Henry, who has only played one Football League fixture in his career, the only back-up.
That has led to rumours of a potential move for a free agent goalkeeper to help Palace in their relegation battle.

But the list of free agent keepers is sparse. Nottingham Forest probably picked up the best option this week, with Greek international Stefanos Kapino making the switch to the City Ground.
The only viable option looks like being former Liverpool stopper Diego Cavalieri. The 34-year-old, who worked under Roy Hodgson at Anfield, was actually sold by the Palace manager – heading to Italian side Cesena in 2010.

He then went on to spend six seasons at Fluminense, where he became a Brazilian international – eventually winning three caps for his country. He had an acrimonious split from the club recently and is now a free agent.
Of the long list of mediocre goalkeeping options available for nothing Cavalieri is the best option. He is known to Hodgson, a Brazil international and has an Italian passport so would not require a work permit.
If Palace delve into the free agent market, Cavalieri is the only man they should target.
