Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that he does not think that Sadio Mane was poor last season.
What’s the story?
Back in May 2021, Mane told The Guardian that the 2020-21 campaign was the “worst” of his career.
The Senegal international forward said that he was so worried that he even underwent a physical test.
The 29-year-old scored 11 goals and gave seven assists in the Premier League last season.
In the Champions League, Mane scored three goals and gave one assist last season.
Liverpool manager Klopp has been speaking about Mane.
Klopp does not think that there was nothing much wrong with him and is pleased with his current form.
The German told Liverpool’s official website: “Really, really happy for him, really pleased for him. Didn’t see it that critically last year but if he is not happy, that’s fine; that he wants to improve is fine.
“We said that now, if David Moyes can improve after 999 games then we can do that as well and that’s what we are working on, and he as well. Really happy about the shape in the moment.”

Good management from Jurgen Klopp
In our view, it is really good management from Klopp to disagree with Mane, at least publicly.
It shows that the Liverpool manager is always positive about his players.
It also speaks volume about him as a person and outlines his man-management style.
Mohamed Salah is banging in the goals for fun now, but Mane – who earns £100,000 per week as salary (Spotrac) – is doing his bit too.
The Liverpool no. 10 has scored six goals in the Premier League and two goals in the Champions League already this season.
