Some Liverpool fans on Twitter are desperate to see their club sign Federico Chiesa.
Liverpool were linked with a move for the Italy international in August and reportedly had an £86 million bid turned down [La Repubblica].
The Juventus livewire enhanced his reputation last night in his country’s Nations League defeat by Spain.
Despite losing 2-1, Chiesa’s work ethic and stunning speed caught the attention of Liverpool fans following his wonderful assist for Lorenzo Pellegrini toward the end of the game.
Here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to his performance on Twitter:
Tailormade for Klopp
If there’s one thing that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp demands, it is off-the-ball running.
And Chiesa displayed the sort of pressing that the German manager absolutely loves last night.
Italy scored from a Spain corner and all because the 23-year-old attacker chased down the ball and pressured the opponent.
It was such a good assist and you can see exactly why Klopp and Michael Edwards are so big on the player.
Luring him away from Turin in January will be difficult, but with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both turning 30 next year, and with speed being huge parts of their game, Edwards needs to keep his eyes open for long-term replacements.
And Chiesa has all the qualities to be a stunning replacement for one of them at Liverpool.
