Tottenham Hotspur fans were not ready to see Liverpool’s tweet after Mohamed Salah scored a penalty at the Estadio Metropolitano last night.

Deja vu for Salah

Salah brought back memories of Liverpool’s triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019 Champions League final yesterday, as he converted from the spot in the Reds’ 3-2 win over Atleti.

In Spurs’ biggest game in recent history they fell behind in the first minutes, as Salah blasted a spot kick home beyond Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham fans scrolling through Twitter last night were, therefore, left with painful memories, as Liverpool’s official account reminded them of that moment last night.

Salah scored for Liverpool from the penalty spot again, as he cooly slotted the ball past Jan Oblak from 12 yards.

And the subsequent tweet caught plenty of Tottenham fans off guard.

Painful memories

The pain from Tottenham’s defeat in Madrid is still being felt.

Spurs have never fully recovered from the loss, which seemed to completely ruin the spirit of their squad at the time.

Mauricio Pochettino struggled to ever regain the same spark after that defeat for Spurs, with Tottenham failing to push on.

While Liverpool have continued to challenge for major titles since, Spurs have fallen out of the top four and seem to have a long way to go before they can even consider being back in European club football’s most prestigious game.
