Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Ezri Konsa had signed a new five-year contract.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal which will keep him at Villa Park until at least the summer of 2026, in what is major news for the club.

Impressively, the £12 million signing from Brentford has helped Villa keep the third-most clean sheets in the Premier League this season.

Across his 26 Premier League outings, Konsa has helped Dean Smith’s side keep 14 shutouts – only Manchester City and Chelsea have more.

This is a fantastic coup for the Villans, as the London-born defender was attracting interest from some of England’s top clubs.

According to The Athletic, both Liverpool and Tottenham were keen to sign Konsa.

However, unless an astronomical offer arrives which Villa can’t resist, the centre-back will be staying in the Midlands for the foreseeable future.

In total, Konsa has made 58 appearances for Villa, and is visibly improving with each passing season.

Alongside Tyrone Mings, Smith has a truly formidable centre-back pairing, who help provide a foundation for the likes of Ollie Watkins and Jack Grealish to run riot.

The future really is looking bright for the Villans.
