Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing Dele Alli after his free transfer move from Tottenham Hotspur to Everton.
The midfielder has joined the Toffees in a deal which has no upfront costs, which is quite remarkable when you consider just how highly rated Alli was a few years ago.
Indeed, this was an England international who won back to back PFA Player of the Year awards, and Tottenham have let him go without any guarantee of financial compensation.
Seaman has been staggered by Alli’s decline, claiming that the midfielder has been unrecognisable as of late.
What’s Seaman said about Alli?
The ex-Arsenal ma was discussing Alli’s move to Everton.
“They’re low on confidence because they’ve not done it at their clubs, but now they’re at a new club and that gives you a bit of a boost. The fact that it’s Frank for Dele and for van De Beek, that will be brilliant. He was a midfield player and he might give them some ideas on what he used to go through if he was having a bad spell. With Dele Alli, if you look at where he got to and where he is now, it’s unrecognisable,” Seaman said.
“I saw him in a game, and I think he got brought off. I can’t remember who was the manager, but he didn’t even look fit. He was really really good, everyone was talking about him and he was doing it for England as well.”

Needs to get back on track
Seaman is absolutely right, Alli has been a shell of his former self as of late.
The midfielder was one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League at one point, but nowadays, he looks scared to even get forward.
Alli needs to have that confidence put back into him and we can only hope that Frank Lampard is the right man to help him get back on track.
