Didier Drogba has told Jose Mourinho on Instagram to ‘enjoy your life’ after he was sacked by Tottenham on Monday.
Added with that, Spurs academy star, Marcel Lavinier, also thanked Mourinho on his Instagram for ‘all that you have taught me’.
On Monday morning, all eyes were on Tottenham’s League Cup final against Manchester City at the end of the week – sandwiched in between their Premier League clash with Southampton on Wednesday.
But Daniel Levy had other ideas.
Despite Tottenham being 90 minutes away from potentially winning their first trophy in over a decade, those in the Spurs boardroom felt that Mourinho was no longer the right man to take them forward.
Mourinho reacted briefly on his Instagram by joking that he doesn’t get any privacy after the media gathered around him as he unpacked his stuff from his car.
And Chelsea legend, Drogba, who enjoyed many trophy-laden years with Mourinho, sent this message in the comments section:
“Enjoy your life ze,” added with laughing emojis. “Enjoy it”
It will be interesting to see who Levy pushes for next because going down the proven route of a Mourinho hasn’t worked.
There isn’t an obvious free agent that stands out to replace Mourinho, unless the idea is to target someone who is already in a job.
Either way, a big few days and week await those in Tottenham colours, and in between all that, they have a League Cup final to deal with.
