Chelsea legend Didier Drogba told BBC Sport’s live coverage of South Korea’s World Cup clash against Germany on Wednesday that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min is “fantastic”.

The 25-year-old captained his country and scored on Wednesday against Germany, as South Korea earned a superb 2-0 win to knock Joachim Low’s side out of the World Cup at the group stage.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star ran onto a long ball to tap home injury time and double South Korea’s lead, after Manuel Neuer was caught in the other half trying to score a late equaliser for the Germans.

But Drogba, before Wednesday’s clash took place, stated his admiration of the Tottenham winger and has been impressed by the star’s versatility for his country.

“I really like the way he is playing,” Drogba said. “We’re used to seeing him on the left wing, and now he’s coming inside and surprising everyone with his left foot. He’s fantastic.”

Son enjoyed arguably his best season at Spurs during 2017-18, scoring 18 goals for Spurs and creating another 11 during his 53 league and cup appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The attacker is one of the names reportedly set to be offered a new deal at Spurs, with only two years remaining on his current deal.
