The French national team boss has been commenting on Sissoko’s troubles at Spurs.

Didier Deschamps has been in the news today, after he seemed to suggest French midfielder Moussa SIssoko might have a problem with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The summer signing has struggled for regular football at Spurs since his arrivial and his Les Bleus coach told L’Equipe:

“He is playing very little.”

“It is likely (there’s a problem with Pochettino), but I don’t want to get into the debate.

“His late transfer meant that he started the journey without the preparation.”

Tottenham will not be pleased with the comments of the French manager – but it won’t be the first time.

Spurs, then managed by Andre Villas-Boas, had something of a fall out with the France boss back in 2012 after Hugo Lloris arrived at White Hart Lane.

But by September 2012 Brad Friedel was still retaining the number one spot in goal at White Hart Lane. AVB stated at the time, as reported by the Express:

“When you transfer it’s not written in the contract that you have to play. He has to compete against three good goalkeepers and at the moment Brad is doing extremely well. He deserves to be playing and he’ll continue to do so.”

This obviously infuriated the French manager, who stirred things up with these comments reported by Sky Sports at the time:

“I saw what Villas-Boas said. These statements surprised me. If I comment, it will make an echo on the other side of the Channel. I’m not going to create a problem that I don’t have today. I have other problems to solve but, if it happens, it deserves consideration. I do not want Hugo put in this situation. He did not appreciate the statements.’’

The comments caused a mini storm over here, as Deschamps’ barely concealed attempt at ruffling the feathers of AVB were clear for all to see.

Now, once again, Tottenham will not be pleased with the comments of the French national team manager – which appear to undermine the Spurs boss Pochettino.

The positives? Lloris has gone on to become the club captain and a popular fan favourite.

Whether Sissoko can do the same remains to be seen.
