The left-back will join loan side Marseille permanently in the summer.

French national team boss Didier Deschamps has been discussing the possibility of Jordan Amavi making the French squad for the World Cup this summer.
Amavi, who is still an Aston Villa player, is currently on loan at Marseille with an agreement in place for the deal to become permanent in the summer.
He has been in good form since heading to the Stade Velodrome and Deschamps has given him hope of making it into the French squad this summer. He called him up in October and has had this to say, as quoted by Foot-Sur7, about that decision:
“He is a player who is a candidate for the left-back position, like others. He knows he came because others were injured.
He achieved good things with Olympique Marseille, and I selected it because I felt it was him who gave me the most guarantees.”

Clearly Amavi will have a challenge on his hands. Top talents such as Djibril Sidibe, Layvin Kurzawa and Lucas Digne are all in contention whilst Manchester City defender Bernard Mendy is stepping up his recover from knee surgery.
Villa fans might be slightly surprised to see Amavi in such esteemed company. He impressed when he first joined the club, but a horrific knee injury sustained during international duty with the French under-21s sidelined him for the rest of their relegation season.

Upon his return to the Villa side they were in the Championship and he was certainly not at the same level as before his injury troubles.
But back in France he has found his best form yet again and if he keeps it up, might just find himself on the plane to Russia.
