Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris is set to be out for a while after suffering a horrific injury against Brighton on Saturday.

Lloris had an awkward landing in the opening minutes of Spurs’ game against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday which led to him dislocating his elbow. The World Cup winner was given oxygen on the sidelines before being taken to a hospital for further examination.
Didier Deschamps had Lloris as his number one for France’s European qualifiers against Iceland and Turkey later this week but he will have to do without his trusted captain for the foreseeable future. The France boss confirmed that Lloris will miss the games this week as well as the ones against Moldova and Albania next month.
He said: “It is difficult to say exactly how long he will not be available. What matters to us right now is that he will not be with us for this round of games or for the next. Almost certainly, he won’t be back on the pitch in 2019.”

That is a huge blow for Tottenham who have had a terrible start to their Premier League campaign. Mauricio Pochettino is under pressure after winning just three of his first eight games. Spurs are also yet to win a game in the Champions League having drawn against Olympiakos before being hammered 7-2 by Bayern Munich.
Lloris’ injury was the last thing that Pochettino would have wanted at such a crucial stage of the season. Paulo Gazzaniga, who came on for the Frenchman against Brighton, is expected to continue between the sticks for Spurs but Lloris’ experience and leadership will be a huge miss over the next few months.
