Didi Hamann feels it will be ‘best for both sides’ if Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool at the end of this season. He also doubts the German will remain their manager without a big budget.
Liverpool have now seen their season boil down to the race to finish the Premier League in the top four. The Anfield natives bowed out of the Champions League during the last 16 on Wednesday. Klopp also oversaw the Reds exit the FA Cup in the fourth round this February.
A 1-0 defeat at AFC Bournemouth, who were bottom of the table, on Saturday did not help Liverpool’s top-four hopes. Klopp’s squad now sit sixth in the standings through 26 fixtures and are six points behind Tottenham Hotspur. But Spurs have played one additional game.

Why are Liverpool not playing Fulham in the Premier League this weekend?
Worse for Liverpool in the top-four race is that Newcastle United in fifth have two matches in hand on Tottenham. The Toon are also four points from Spurs and two clear of the Reds. Brighton & Hove Albion also have a game in hand on Liverpool and are level on 42 points.
Tottenham and Newcastle will now look to put further pressure on Liverpool this weekend with the Reds not playing. Klopp’s squad were meant to host Fulham this Saturday but the Cottagers are in FA Cup action with Manchester United. Brighton are also in FA Cup action.

Hamann feels it will be ‘best for both sides’ if Klopp leaves his role as manager
Given how Liverpool’s season has now panned out, Hamann feels it would be best for the Reds and Klopp if the German leaves his role as manager this summer. He will also doubt the 55-year-old will want to stay on at Anfield if the Reds cannot produce a lavish budget.
The former Liverpool midfielder further believes Klopp could look to leave Anfield as it will be near-on impossible for him to address all of the issues in their team. Klopp has stood at the helm on Merseyside since October 2015. He is also still under contract until June 2026.
“I feel like he’s telling himself he can turn it around,” Hamann has told Sky Germany. “That assumes they bring players in.

“If they don’t bring players in, then I can’t see him staying because I can’t imagine him staying if he doesn’t have a remote chance of playing for a title. The competition is huge. I think it would be best for both sides if they make a cut in the summer.
“The team has been falling apart in the last few months. For a coach who’s been around that long, I think it’s almost impossible to pull off.”
