Zach Clough left Bolton Wanderers for Nottingham Forest in January. Was it a poor career move?
Nottingham Forest’s Zach Clough scores
Zach Clough has been one of the few bright spots for Nottingham Forest over the past few months after his £2.5m January move.
The young forward has quickly settled into his new side, scoring four goals in nine starts including a memorable one against club rivals Derby.
While the goals have dried up over the past month, the 22-year-old has done well. Whether he made the right choice in signing for Forest is yet to be determined.
Clough left Bolton Wanderers behind having been a regular for them in the first half of the season, and few could begrudge him a return to the Championship.

Yet at the weekend Bolton secured their record back to England’s second tier anyway, bouncing straight back after last season’s relegation, sealing their success with a 3-0 win at home to Peterborough.
They could be swapping places with Clough’s Nottingham Forest.
Forest’s weekend defeat to QPR leaves them on the edge of a cliff, wondering if they will be able to stay there.

With one game to go, they are level on points with Blackburn Rovers, and one of the two teams will be relegated next weekend.
Relegation was not what Clough came to Nottingham Forest for, and could have him regretting leaving Bolton behind if he was not already.
Silver lining
In the even of Forest being relegated, Clough can take solace that his performances and potential mean he won’t be there for long.
He has shown enough this season already to have clubs clamouring for his services, and Forest would face a serious battle to hold onto him.
Perhaps even Bolton might fancy their chances of luring him back.
