West Ham have loaned Toni Martinez and kept Domingos Quina.

Almost lost amid the unkind headlines and surprise move for Jordan Hugill was West Ham’s decision to loan out young striker Toni Martinez.
Hammers fans have been desperate for the young striker to get a shot at first team football after his prolific record for the under-21s.
West Ham though felt this was not possible, and decided to send him out on loan to Spanish side Real Valladolid until the end of the season.
This is a move which could backfire in the summer if it makes the former Valencia forward homesick.

Not only that but Martinez will not be picking up experience in English football, and most of the benefits playing in Spain will not prepare him any better for an opportunity at West Ham next season.
One player they did decide to keep amid a loan approach was winger Domingos Quina, with The Mail reporting West Ham blocked a move to Scunthorpe.

Quina reportedly had his heart set on a move to Scunthorpe so he could play regularly, with his path blocked at the Hammers.
It really seems as though West Ham kept and loaned the wrong players, with Quina keen to leave, and Martinez expressing on social media in late January how excited he was to be part of West Ham’s first team squads.
The arrival of Jordan Hugill certainly would have limited Martinez’s chances, but the added competition might just have brought out the best in him.
