Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed a price with Espanyol for the former loanee.
According to a report from Spanish newspaper Sport, Tottenham Hotspur and Espanyol have finally agreed a deal for the permanent signing of Pau Lopez this summer, and one wonders if the timing of another transfer rumour prompted a change of heart from the La Liga club.
After all, it was only a few days ago that Tottenham found themselves linked with IFK Gothernburg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg, with Fotball Direkt claiming Spurs wanted to bring the 18-year-old to North London.

Sport claims Tottenham will pay just £2.17million for the 22-year-old – a fraction of what Espanyol had previously been seeking – and given how some transfer rumours are circulated as a means to an alternative end, it certainly makes sense that Spurs would be linked with one young stopper just as it seemed a deal for another was dead in the water.
As if by magic, the two clubs are negotiating again, and if Tottenham have indeed agreed to sign Lopez for a cut-price fee, it could ultimately go down as one of their smartest of recent years.
Lopez may have failed to feature for the first-team during his loan stint last season, but his previous performances for Espanyol and for Spain’s under-21 side at this summer’s European Championships speak volumes.
In an inflated market, bargains are rare, and even less so when you consider Lopez was signed for less than practically any other top flight deal expected to go through this summer.
Maybe Tottenham’s link with Dahlberg was just a coincidence, then again…
