Did Tottenham Hotspur miss their chance of signing West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini?

According to The Evening Standard, West Ham United are ready to offer Manuel Lanzini a new contract.
The Argentine attacker is out of contract at West Ham in 2020 but the Irons are ready to offer him improved terms on his current £25,000-a-week deal.
But should Lanzini hold off on committing his future in East London until he knows whether Tottenham Hotspur still want him?

In November, ESPN reported that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was a “big admirer” of the 25-year-old, but has he missed his shot?
Pochettino signed Lucas Moura in January, but Erik Lamela’s recent struggles might indicate that the Lilywhites manager could be in the market for another winger this summer.

No move was made for Lanzini in the winter transfer window and surely it has to go down as a missed opportunity if he signs an extension at West Ham and stays in East London in the long term.
Lanzini is a class act and a player who probably will go on to be a bigger Premier League star than he already is.
If that happens, you wonder whether Pochettino might regret not moving for him when he had the chance, though a summer move could still be feasible if he snubs the extension.
