Leeds United have reportedly made an eight-figure bid for Daniel James.

Leeds have now moved through the gears as they look to get further signings through the Elland Road door this month, with The Sun reporting today that the Whites have made a £10 million bid for Daniel James.
The Sun’s report suggests that Leeds have offered to pay £6 million up front, while the rest of the fee will come in add-ons. It could potentially prove a huge statement about how highly the youngster is rated by Marcelo Bielsa if the bid proves successful.
And perhaps Stuart Dallas may be one of the men to thank for the Championship leaders’ decision to confirm their interest in James with a bid.
Dallas would have left a lot of supporters feeling deflated earlier in the day, as the club announced on their official website that the winger has suffered an injury setback and will now miss up to six weeks.

Leeds have been without Dallas since the first game in December, so the injury may not necessarily rock the boat too much. But given Leeds’ luck with injuries this term, it would be no surprise if the Northern Irishman’s setback was one of the factors that has prompted the club to seek cover in the final days of the window.
Leeds have been linked with James for a while now – the Yorkshire Evening Post reported their interest before the halfway point in the window, stating that James was valued in excess of £3 million.

Of course, they were running out of time to make a bid anyway with the deadline coming on Thursday. But the timing of the reported bid is interesting given how long it has been since the rumours emerged and that it was reported soon after Dallas’ situation was disclosed.
So while losing Dallas is clearly a blow given his versatility and consistency, perhaps there is a chance that his injury ended up contributing to the club’s decision to make their move for James this month.
