Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have been embarrassed by Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in the last two Old-Firm derbies.
Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha may have already learnt a harsh lesson about making bold statements since moving to Ibrox.
Caixinha took a bullish approach with the media soon after arriving at Rangers, but his statement that he was working with the best squad in Scotland has already come back to haunt him (Daily Record).
Former Rangers boss Mark Warburton admitted that the scrutiny that he was put under at Ibrox took him a while to get used to.
And Caixinha may now be realising that making outlandish statements is extremely inadvisable.
The Portuguese boss may have been hoping that his past comments about the quality of Rangers’ squad would have served as a motivational tactic for his side, but they have only acted as an object of ridicule.
Celtic fans have jumped on the quotes, and quickly reminded Caixinha of them, after Rangers’ disastrous performances in the most recent Old-Firm derbies.
Rangers were first beaten by Celtic 2-0 at Hampden Park, after putting in a meek display.
And then, at the weekend, Celtic ran out 5-1 winners at Ibrox in what was a humiliating defeat for Caixinha’s side.
Caixinha has now reportedly realised the scale of the task which awaits him at Ibrox, and has plans to make 12 changes in the summer transfer window (Daily Record).
And it is likely that the Light Blues boss may think twice about making any more big public promises, after the backlash he has received this time around.
