Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers allowed Joey Barton to leave earlier in the season.

Ever since taking charge at Glasgow Rangers, Pedro Caixinha has spoken of the increased aggression he wants to see from his side.

Caixinha has already suggested that he sees his Rangers side playing a high-pressure style, which demands great intensity.

The Portuguese boss has hinted that he felt Rangers were too soft out of possession when Mark Warburton was in charge.

And Warburton may have let go of the perfect player for Caixinha’s new system at Ibrox.

Joey Barton’s acrimonious departure from Rangers was well publicised and Warburton’s reasons for allowing the midfielder to leave the Glasgow club were obvious.

However, it is hard not to think that Barton would have been perfect for Rangers currently.

Barton’s physical edge would have been ideal for Rangers at this moment in time, and could have helped Caixinha implement his style far more easily.

But, now Barton has left, a new midfielder enforcer is likely to be new the top of Caixinha’s wishlist, as he looks ahead of summer additions he could make at Rangers.
