Everton let Matthew Pennington leave for Leeds and now could be short of two centre-backs.
Matthew Pennington sealed a move to Leeds United this week, clinching a season long loan move from Everton.
The talented centre-back was pushed down the pecking order at Everton by the big money arrival of Michael Keane from Burnley.
But Leeds may also have got a little lucky, with Everton centre-back Ramiro Funes Mori suffering a serious knee injury.
SkySports report Funes Mori has undergone surgery and could be out for between six to nine months.

Leeds are fortunate that Everton did not pull the plug on the Pennington deal, after all he started for them in a Merseyside Derby last season.
It may also indicate that Everton have bigger plans, and could be ready to enter the market for a centre-back of their own.
The Toffees are among the Premier League’s biggest spenders this summer and are not appearing to be slowing down.

They have Michael Keane and Ashley Williams along with youngster Mason Holgate, while veteran Phil Jagielka is expected to leave.
Odds were cut earlier this month on them making a move for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, but he is not the only name they should have their eye on.
The Independent reported the Toffees are keen on Porto centre-back Bruno Martins Indi, and Funes Mori’s injury combined with Pennington’s departure should give them extra incentive to make a move.
