Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that he did not expect Mohamed Salah to get the number of goals he has got so far.

Klopp has admitted that when he signed Salah from AS Roma back in 2017, he did not expect the Egypt international forward to become a goal machine for Liverpool.

The 29-year-old has scored 130 goals in 209 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Salah: “What can I say? Did Mo expect when he arrived here that he can achieve these numbers? Maybe yes!

“Did I expect it? No, because you can’t expect it, because you shouldn’t expect it, because it puts kind of pressure on the player. But he made massive steps since he arrived here.”

World-class footballer

Salah has developed into a goal machine at Liverpool, and credit must be given to the Egyptian as well as to the club’s coaching staff, including Klopp, for his development and progress over the years.

The former Chelsea player is not a ‘natural’ striker and does not even start matches centrally.

The 29-year-old starts matches on the right and then tends to cut in.

It is remarkable that opposition defenders still cannot stop Salah even though they know what he is going to do.

Salah is brilliant with the ball, works hard for the team, and can score all sorts of goals.

For Liverpool to win the Premier League and the Champions League this season, Salah will have to be on top of his game throughout.
