The West Ham striker was disappointing against Arsenal.

West Ham United manager David Moyes appears to have settled upon a strike partnership of Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic for Premier League games at present but he gave opportunities to impress to other players in the Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal last night.
Javier Hernandez was given a starting berth but the Mexican was unable to seize his opportunity as he failed to make much of an impact.
In truth, West Ham’s approach wasn’t exactly suited to getting the best out of Hernandez, as they showed little attacking intent, but the striker will still be left frustrated that he wasn’t able to prove a point to Moyes.

Hernandez scored four Premier League goals for West Ham earlier in the season following his summer switch from Bayer Leverkusen, but he has been unable to command a place in the starting lineup in the top flight since returning from injury.
The 29-year-old’s performance against Arsenal will have done little to convince Moyes that Hernandez deserves to start when West Ham return to Premier League action on Saturday with a home game against Newcastle United.

Hernandez may now find it difficult to get back into the side, especially if Antonio and Arnautovic continue to dovetail so effectively.
