Scottish Premiership side Rangers reportedly wanted to bring Dylan McGeouch back to Ibrox before he left Hibernian for League One outfit Sunderland.

Dylan McGeouch slipped through Rangers’ grasp for the second time last summer.
A player who spent three years in the club’s academy before upping sticks and joining Old Firm rivals Celtic in 2011, the Scottish Sun reported that Rangers wanted to bring the midfielder back to Ibrox after his outstanding 2017/18 season with Hibernian.
Instead, however, McGeouch moved south of the border for the first time, joining Sunderland on a free transfer in July.
After an impressive pre-season, big things were expected of the 25-year-old at the Stadium of Light. But, following the return of veteran Grant Leadbitter in January, he has slipped dramatically down the pecking order. He has played just five minutes in Sunderland’s last seven league games.

And while Rangers’ midfield is stocked with talent and McGeouch would hardly be guaranteed a starting place at Ibrox, his composed passing style would have made him a perfect fit under Steven Gerrard.
The former Liverpool captain likes his side to control possession. McGeouch’s technical ability and intelligent link-play could have made him a central figure in Glasgow rather than a benchwarmer at Sunderland.
Fortunately for McGeouch, he has three months left this season to force his way back into Jack Ross’s plans.
