Odsonne Edouard has started just twice for Celtic – but fellow PSG loanee Jean-Christophe Bahebeck is in fine form in the Eredivisie.

Odsonne Edouard arrived at Celtic on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain this summer with a stellar reputation in tow.

The teenage striker had plundered 60 goals across two seasons at youth level, not to mention winning both the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards for his stellar performances for France at the 2015 Under-17 European Championships.

Edouard scored eight goals in five games during the tournament, including a hat-trick against Germany in the final. Never before had a player scored so many goals during the competition.

Though ‘the rocket’s’ short-lived Celtic career is yet to take off just yet. Edouard has made just three appearances in the Scottish Premiership and has not hit the back of the net since a 4-1 win away at Hamilton right at the start of September.

Edouard might boast some fearful statistics at youth level but he is yet to make the same impact in the senior game, netting just once in 16 games on loan at Toulouse last season.

Meanwhile, another highly-rated young striker sent out on loan by PSG in the summer is enjoying a far more productive season. Jean-Christophe Bahebeck has three goals in just four starts for Eredivisie side Utrecht and, in the 3-1 win against Heerenveen earlier this month, produced one of the finest individual performances in Holland this season.

Bahebeck, like Edouard, has struggled to settle previously during spells away from PSG but, at 24 and with close to 100 league appearances under his belt, is far more experienced.

And, at the moment, looks in far better form. Edouard, however, will be given a chance by Brendan Rodgers at Celtic. Though ousting Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths in the pecking order is easier said than done.
