Diame completed a move to Newcastle on Wednesday, despite an alleged late swoop from Aston Villa.

Mo Diame has told Newcastle United’s official website that the club will make an instant return to the Premier League.
Despite reports that Championship rivals Aston Villa were looking to hijack the deal, the 29-year-old was pictured at St James’ Park earlier today and has now agreed a three-year deal at the club, becoming the eighth arrival of the summer.
Diame was a key part of Hull City’s return to the Premier League via the play-offs last season, scoring the decisive goal at Wembley against Sheffield Wednesday.
Yet the departure of boss Steve Bruce earlier in the summer helped to unsettle the midfielder, who insists he has no second thoughts about turning down top-flight football to join the Magpies, adding that he is confident his new side can return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
He told the club’s official website: “Everybody close to me knows how desperate I am to play in the Premier League again, but when Newcastle comes in for you it makes you think.
“I am looking to the future. Newcastle is a big name, a massive club and will be back in the Premier League, for sure.”
Newcastle, who are hot favourites to win the Championship this season, have been busy in the summer transfer market, with Diame’s arrival coming on hot on the heels of Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland centre-back Ciaran Clark.
Both players could well be in contention for the EFL curtain-raiser at Fulham on Friday.
