West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has used his column in the London Evening Standard this week to comment mainly on his future at the club, in a week which has seen him constantly linked with a move away from the club.

But he also had time to talk about the club’s injury problems, including that of Diafra Sakho. The Senegalese forward has been out of action since November with a serious back problem and has played just two games for the club this season.

With that in mind the striker is itching to get back and playing. Bilic wrote in the Standard:

“More good news is that Diafra Sakho is very close to a return. He is back training and it is only the length and nature of his [back] injury which makes us cautious. He wants to play now — against Hull — but we have to be careful with him.”

West Ham are right to be mindful regarding the striker, who must be fully recovered before heading back into action in the top-flight.

But it is positive to hear how excited Sakho is to play for West Ham again.

In the summer he tried forcing through a move to West Brom, in a deal reported by the Birmingham Mail to be in the region of £16 million.

He failed a medical at the club however and he returned to the Hammers.

Now he is keen to get back out on the pitch and prove his worth to the West Ham cause.
