Well-known journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his website that Kouadio Kone is set to join Borussia Monchengladbach, meaning that Leeds United will miss out.

Leeds United’s interest

Italian news outlet TMW reported on December 30 that Premier League club Leeds are competing with AC Milan for the Toulouse midfielder.

It was reported that the French club were looking for €15 million (£13.51 million) as transfer fee for the 19-year-old, as covered by HITC Sport here.

Kouadio Kone decision

Di Marzio has reported that Toulouse midfielder Kone is close to joining Monchengladbach. The German club have reportedly won the race for the French teenager for €9 million (£8.11 million), with Milan offering €5-6m (£4.5-5.41m) for him.

Missing out

Leeds will be a bit disappointed to have reportedly missed out on the signing of Kone.

The France Under-19 international is a very talented and promising young player who has experience of playing first-team football for Toulouse.

The youngster has made 14 starts and four substitute appearances in Ligue 2 for Toulouse so far this season, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.

Maybe Leeds will continue continue to monitor the youngster after he joins Monchengladbach.
