Tony Cascarino said on talkSPORT (6:57am, February 27, 2021) that Leeds United winger and reported Liverpool target Raphinha reminds him of Angel Di Maria.
The former Chelsea striker, who now works as a pundit for talkSPORT, said that Raphinha is like Di Maria at his very best.
The Argentine winger was superb during his time at Real Madrid, and although he did not have a huge impact in the Premier League with Manchester United, the 33-year-old has been a big success at Paris Saint-Germain.
Di Maria won La Liga and the Champions League once each with Madrid, and has won the Ligue 1 title four times with PSG so far.
Liverpool have been linked with Raphinha, with JuveLive reporting in February, as covered by HITC Sport, that the defending champions want to bring him to Anfield in the summer of 2021.
Cascarino said on talkSPORT (6:57am, February 27, 2021): “Do you know who he reminds me of? I am talking about the Real Madrid player that obviously went to Man United. He reminds me of Di Maria.
“When Di Maria was at his best, he ran, his continued work rate, his ability to go inside, pick passes, Di Maria at his very best was very like that, Raphinha.”
Good signing for Liverpool?
While it is unlikely that Leeds will sell Raphinha after just one season, the winger would be a good signing for Liverpool.
The Brazilian has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, scores goals, creates chances and works hard.
Given that the Leeds ace is only 24 years of age, he has the potential to get even better and would be a very good long-term signing for Liverpool.
According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old has scored five goals and provided five assists in 18 Premier League starts for Leeds so far this season.
